ABOUT ME

I’m Maria a photographer, art director, and the creative behind Maria Hedrick Photography, based in Los Angeles.
I work with beauty, skincare, and wellness brands to create visuals that feel as intentional and elevated as the products themselves.

I don’t rush into shooting. Before we build anything, I take time to understand your brand’s energy, values, and visual language — the subtle details that make you, you. My role is to translate those insights into imagery that reflects your identity with clarity, care, and confidence.

THE BEST VISUALS ARE ROOTED IN SOMETHING REAL

That’s why my work is guided by observation, dialogue, and intuition — not templates or trends. I’m drawn to the details that often go unnoticed: the way light interacts with texture, the tone behind a color palette, the elements that make a product feel like your brand.

This is where alignment happens. Not through forced storytelling, but through visuals that feel like a natural extension of who you are.

From concept to final edit, every step matters.

I offer a full-service photography experience from creative direction, prop sourcing, set styling, lighting, photography, and retouching.

Whether you're preparing for a launch or elevating your everyday content, I bring structure, clarity, and creative focus to every step.

Each project is collaborative and grounded in a deep respect for your vision. Together, we’ll create imagery that doesn’t just perform but resonates.

A few things about me:

I’m a Southern California native, and the art and culture here have shaped the way I approach image-making.

My love for the arts started early. I was always drawing, experimenting with film cameras, and even dressed up as an artist on career day. I began my professional journey with a Canon 40D, a small flash, and big dreams.

I earned my degree in Fine Art Photography from Long Beach State University, where I also took a wide range of art history courses. From ancient sculpture to modern design movements. That foundation helped shape my creative perspective and continues to influence how I approach my work today.

I’m drawn to visual systems that balance freedom and structure and I love refining creative processes that keep things flowing with intention.

I believe in staying open to the world. Whether that’s noticing color in unexpected places or observing how people express identity through space, style, and culture.

I’ve had the honor of working with Elimu Girls, a nonprofit focused on empowering young women in Kenya through education and entrepreneurship. Traveling to visit the school and connect with the people behind the organization was a powerful and lasting experience.

I believe great visuals come from shared vision. If you’re looking for a collaborative partner who understands the nuance of your brand, I’m here for it!
